Lace & lust
Feb. 28th, 2008 10:49 pmGeeky Cousin came to Helsinki and brought me 2 awesomely awesome books about lace (and some really lovely smelling lovely Lush shampoo bars too). I'm so excited about these books, I make squealy noises. I can't decide which one to read first. And there's a third book I want to read, scifi book I nicked from my darling's brother's library. I wish I had three sets of eyes and triple brain so I could read all of them at once! Squeal!
My personal paradise right now would be a large comfortable sofa in library filled with books about lace, embroidery, and fashion theory plus a large amount of scifi books. Then a sofaside table with some snacks and hot chocolate and all the time in the world to read, read, read.

Yes it's upside down. I made it like that so you'd have to stretch your neck. It's healthy!
I also finished one needle lace piece, it's difficult to believe this weird scrap of material took something like 40 hours to make.

Me and G.C. visited the so-called cosplay shop Ippai. Ehmmm.. expensive polyester outfits, and I swear they were decorated with folded masking tape. Well it was pretty much as one should expect, but I did not expect the over eager nerd boy who grabbed every word he understood and proceeded to recite all his data on it. Touhukas ja tohkeissaan. I mentioned liking Jane Marple and Metamorphose, and he recited that Meta's reputation is lower than other brands, due to it's lower quality materials.. excuse meeeeee aaaaargh but you are not allowed to mention "lower quality materials" and Meta in the same sentence if you work in a shop whose clothes are the same quality (and material) as plastic bags. I'm now shocked on behalf of Kuniko Kato.

silti
grumble grumble
maksaa nyt jostain hirveästä muovisesta maid-asusta yhtä paljon kuin jostain oikeasta vaatteesta..
ihmettelen kyllä jos se tuolla konseptilla pyörii kovinkaan pitkään.
